Rob is the founder of Hedge Funds Care/Help For Children (HFC.org). In late 1998 Rob conceived of the idea of raising money in the hedge fund/alternative investment industry, and making grants to organizations dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. The first event that Rob organized in February 1999, attracted more than 400 people, raised close to $450,000.00 and resulted in grants to four outstanding programs dedicated to saving children from the trauma of abuse. It was such a great party and first of its kind, industry networking event, that many people urged Rob to do it again the following year.

Contact Rob Fast forward to today, there are U.S. branches in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Denver, Atlanta & L.A., plus active global affiliates in London, Hong Kong, Toronto, Grand Cayman, & Dublin. Each branch and affiliate has a“Committee of Hearts” comprised of industry professionals in that locality who donate their time to raise funds from multiple events. These funds are granted through the HFC designed methodology to organizations focused on saving children from the trauma of abuse in their respective communities.

To assure the funds raised are most effectively deployed, Rob innovated the approach of working with well-regarded, graduate level, schools of social work in each branch community (starting with Columbia University in NY), to identify the strongest programs to make grants to, and then evaluate how effectively the funds are put to use. HFC has that relationship in all branches.

As of the end of 2021, HFC will have granted more than $55million, through more than 1,000 grants, touching thousands of lives. In recent years, programs funded by HFC affiliates and branches have provided clinical treatment to several thousand children, and prevention programs designed for children, parents, police, teachers and others, to thousands more.

Rob currently serves as “Chairman Emeritus,” actively involved on the HFC Board of Directors and deeply committed as ever to the HFC mission of preventing child abuse and providing treatment to those who have been victimized..

In addition, Rob is a Managing Director of McAlinden Research Partners, an independent investment strategy research firm. Like all non-profits HFC is now facing a scary scenario not of our making. Our major 2020 fund-raising activities have mostly been cancelled with currently nary a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Yet with such pressure on parents and children, the mission is perhaps more important now than it ever has been and HFC will continue the fight to save children from the trauma of abuse until the last breadth. In fact, I forecast a dramatic turn of events to the positive side of the ledger much sooner than now expected, and I’m sticking to it!

Rob resides in New York City, has helped to raise five children and at last count has nine, beautiful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
